Roof windows in Torquay
A lot of Torquay’s housing is grand Victorian and Edwardian stock, much of it now split into flats with rooms in the roof. These roofs are often high and steep, so a careful, well-planned installation matters as much as the window itself.
Being on the coast, Torquay roofs take a lot of wind-driven rain. Badly fitted roof windows are one of the most common sources of leaks we see, which is why we always use the correct VELUX flashing kits and finish the details in lead where the roof needs it.
From a single replacement in a top-floor flat to new windows for a loft conversion, we can help anywhere in Torquay, including Babbacombe, St Marychurch and Chelston.

Torquay’s villas have big, complicated slate roofs, with hips, valleys, decorative ridges and plenty of chimneys. Their bay windows often have traditional lead roofs, and many are now due for renewal.
Wind-driven rain off the bay finds every weakness, so we pay particular attention to flashings, valleys and chimney leadwork when we repair or re-roof here.

Mark and the team fitted 2 velux windows to my property recently, they were very professional and knowledgeable in their approach, arrived on time and are acredited Velux installers, they provided detailed photos of the install stages for submission for any planning regs needed and the quality of workmanship was to a high and exacting standard. Very happy with the work and would use again. I highly recommend for the Torbay area.
Having used Dixons Roofing on a few occasions, I have found them to be very reliable and very tidy and would recommend them for any roofing issues.
Highly recommended. Mark and his team efficiently repaired our roof which was leaking behind a chimney, requiring replacement timbers, leadwork and tiling. Fairly priced, excellent quality, completed in the timescale originally indicated and a pleasure to deal with.
Torquay roofing and roof window questions
Can you repair the lead roof on my bay window?
Yes. Lead bay roofs are common on Torquay’s Victorian and Edwardian houses. We can repair them or lay a new lead roof the traditional way, with proper rolls and joints.
Can you fit roof windows in a top-floor flat?
Yes. We regularly work on converted Victorian properties. If the building has a freeholder or management company, it is worth checking with them before work starts, and we are happy to provide details for them.
My roof window leaks in heavy rain. Does it need replacing?
Not always. Leaks are often caused by the flashing or surrounding roof rather than the window. We will inspect it and tell you honestly whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense.
