VELUX, roofing & leadwork in Kingsteignton

Just over the Teign from Newton Abbot, Kingsteignton is one of the areas we work in most. We fit, replace and repair VELUX roof windows all over the town.

Roof windows in Kingsteignton

Kingsteignton has older cottages and terraces near the centre, but much of the town is more modern housing, a lot of it built with rooms in the roof. That makes it one of the best places locally for adding or upgrading roof windows.

A common job here is swapping out builder-grade roof windows from the 1990s and 2000s for current VELUX models. They are better insulated, quieter in the rain and much easier to open, and many can be fitted with solar-powered blinds at the same time.

If your loft room is dark, stuffy or cold, a new or upgraded VELUX window is often the simplest fix, and we can usually do it in a day.

Roofing & leadwork in Kingsteignton

A lot of Kingsteignton’s homes have concrete tile roofs with mortar-bedded ridges, which crack and loosen as they age. We re-bed ridges or fit modern dry-ridge systems that need far less upkeep.

In the older part of town, slate roofs, chimneys and lead valleys need the same care as anywhere else, and we handle everything from a single slipped slate to a full re-roof.

We had 2 large velux windows replaced, great job, very pleased with result, carried out on time and everything explained in detail, left clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend this family crew.

Mark and his team replaced our roof earlier this year. They were professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Their quote was very reasonable and the work of a very high standard. We had to wait a a while for them but it was worth the wait, they also replaced our roof during a very cold winter! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Very happy. This was just a day's work fitting new lead flashings around my utility extension. Mark was very obliging squeezing the job in between other work they had going on. Good communications all round and efficient work on site. I work as a local Architect, and would be quite happy to put Dixons on our "approved contractor" list.

Kingsteignton roofing and roof window questions

What is a dry ridge system?

It is a way of fixing ridge tiles mechanically instead of bedding them in mortar. It does not crack or wash out, so it needs far less maintenance, and it suits many of the newer roofs in Kingsteignton.

How long does a VELUX replacement take?

A straightforward like-for-like replacement is usually done in a day. New installations and multiple windows take longer, and we will give you a clear timescale with your quote.

Can you add a blind to an existing VELUX window?

In most cases, yes. We just need the code from the window’s data plate (open the sash and look at the top) to order the right blind.
